SGRDUHS are increasingly focused on addressing the needs of Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs).
Objectives of the SEDGs are:
Ensuring Equitable Access to Quality Education: This involves creating pathways for SEDG students to enter higher education through initiatives like bridge courses, outreach programs, and flexible admission criteria. It also means providing the resources and support necessary for these students to succeed academically.
Creating Inclusive and Safe Environments: SGRDUHS aim to foster campuses where SEDG students feel welcome, respected, and free from discrimination. This includes implementing policies and practices that promote inclusivity and address issues of bias and harassment.
Providing Comprehensive Support: SGRDUHS provides Academic mentoring and tutoring, Socio-emotional counseling, Financial aid and scholarships, Career guidance and skill-building programs.
Promoting Social Mobility: A core objective is to empower SEDG students to improve their socio-economic standing through education. This involves equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to succeed in the workforce.
Implementing Government Policies: Universities work to implement government policies and guidelines related to SEDG students, including reservation policies and welfare schemes.
Raising Awareness and Sensitization: SGRDUHS strive to educate faculty, staff, and students about the challenges faced by SEDG students and the importance of creating an inclusive campus culture.
Grievance Redressal: SGRDUHS aim to provide clear pathways for SEDG students to voice their grievances and have them addressed promptly and fairly.
In essence, SGRDUHS is working to dismantle barriers and create opportunities for SEDG students to achieve their full potential.
